Discover the Wonder of Our Indie Arts & Crafts Fest Juried Craft Show

The Indie Arts & Crafts Fest's Journey to Going Juried: Exploring the World of Juried Craft Shows

Hey there, crafts and beer lovers! This year, we have decided to make the Indie Arts & Crafts Fest a juried craft show. If you aren’t quite sure what makes a juried craft show so special, keep reading! We’ll dive right into the fascinating world of juried craft shows.

Craft Shows Unveiled

Before we get into the nitty-gritty of what makes a craft show “juried,” let’s start with the basics. The Crafts-n-Beer holiday craft show is an event where artisans and craftsmen/women come together to showcase and sell their handmade creations. These can range from pottery and jewelry to woodworking and textiles, and everything in between. It’s like a treasure trove of creativity and craftsmanship.

What’s the Deal with “Juried”?

Now, here’s where things get interesting. A “juried” craft show is not your run-of-the-mill craft fair. It’s a curated and selective event that’s a bit like the cream of the crop for crafters. But what does “juried” actually mean in this context?

In a juried craft show, artists and crafters must submit their work for review by our panel of experts, also known as jurors. These jurors carefully evaluate each submission based on various criteria like quality, originality, craftsmanship, and overall artistic appeal.

The Selection Process

So, what is our selection process for the Indie Arts & Crafts Fest? It goes something like this:

Application: Crafters interested in participating in our juried craft show start by filling out an application. This includes details about their work, their small business, photos, and a booth setup plan.
Review by Jurors: Once the applications close on October 1, our panel of jurors go to work. For two weeks, we will meticulously go through each submission, assessing it against our predefined criteria.
Notification: Crafters anxiously await the results. If they’re selected, they’ll receive our long-awaited acceptance email. If they’re not selected, we let our applicants know that they can try again next year.

Why Did Crafts-n-Beer Go Juried?

Now, you might be wondering, why bother with all this “juried” stuff anyway? Well, there are several good reasons:

Fairness: In the past, we left applications open to all crafters who were interested to join our show. Because we aim to only have 2 vendors per category, we sadly had to turn many vendors away. This meant refunding their money and notifying them they were not able to participate. Needless to say, it was very disappointing for us and our potential vendors.
Quality Control: Juried shows are known for their high standards. When you visit the Indie Arts & Crafts Fest, you can be confident that you’ll find top-notch, handcrafted gifts.
Discover Hidden Gems: Juried shows are where you’ll stumble upon artists and artisans who may not have made it to the big retail scene yet. You can score unique pieces that aren’t mass-produced.
Supporting Artists: By attending Crafts-n-Beer events, you’re directly supporting artists and craftspeople. You’re putting money into the pockets of talented individuals who pour their hearts and souls into their work.
Inspiration Galore: If you’re into DIY or crafting yourself, our events are a goldmine of inspiration. You’ll see innovative techniques and materials that can spark your own creative fire.
